Bishop H. Joseph Griffith, Ph.D., D.Min., D.D.

Senior Pastor


Bishop H. Joseph Griffith is the Senior Pastor and founder of the Greater Malabar Christian Centre. He is the Chief Executive Officer of the organization and directly supervises the work of the pastors and divisional heads of the ministry. He is an ex officio member of the Board of GMCC. Bishop Griffith brings into the pastoral ministry a wealth of experience from positions which he has held in his very impressive professional career. Apart from being well established as a religious leader globally, Dr. Griffith has distinguished himself in the fields of Human Services, Human Resource Management, Organizational Development and Social Policy. He has served as the Vice President of the T&T Council of Evangelical Churches, Lecturer at the West Indies School of Theology, Member of the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean (EAC), Advisory Board and Faculty of the Caribbean College of the Bible International (CCBI), Lecturer at the Institute For Leadership Formation (the ILF) in Singapore as well as Adjunct Professorships at a several Christian institutions. He is approved to teach all courses of the Evangelical Teachers Training Association (ETTA) of Wheaton, Illinois. Bishop Griffith's employment career was mainly in the United States where he was employed with the San Diego Urban League, San Diego City Schools, San Diego Community Colleges, Citizens Policy Center, US Department of Labour/ Regional Employment and Training Consortium and the Youth Service Center. Upon his return to Trinidad and Tobago in 1982, he was employed by the Petroleum Company of T&T (PETROTRIN) for five years where he headed the Management Training and Organization Development Departments before going into full-time pastoral ministry. Dr. Griffith serves as a current member of the Board of Trustees for the Washington-based global restorative justice organization, Prison Fellowship International. This organization has affiliates in 120 nations and Dr. Griffith has had responsibility for the Region of North America and the Caribbean since 2003.

Dr. Griffith received his ministerial license from the Church of God in Christ in August 1978 and was ordained by the same organization in June 1980. He was brought into the Apostolic Succession and consecrated Bishop in the Old Holy Catholic Church (not Roman) in October 1998. He was consecrated by the Church of God In Christ in April 2003 and installed as the Prelate for the Trinidad and Tobago Jurisdiction; a position in which he currently serves. Bishop is the holder of the following earned degrees: BA in Sociology (1974), MSc. in Management Science and Organization Development (1977), Ph.D. in Business Management and a second doctorate (D.Min.) in Pastoral Counselling (1998). He has completed specialized post doctoral training in Human Resource and Executive Management at cutting-edge institutions such as University Associates, Kepner Tregoe Organization, George Odiorne International Business Institute and the Center for Leadership Studies (under Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard). He is the holder of many awards recognizing his athletic, academic and civic endeavors; among them an Honorary Doctor of Divinity, Outstanding Youngman of America for community leadership, Honorary Citizen and keys to the City of Grambling, Louisiana where he had studied twenty years earlier. He has been happily married to Dr. Terrie Lee Griffith (nee Cooper) for 44 years. She is profiled here under the Lead Pastor.

Lady Terrie Griffith

Executive Pastor


Lady Terrie Griffith was saved in 1977 at St. Stephen’s COGIC under the leadership of Bishop George D. McKinney. She holds several earned degrees: B.Sc. in Business Administration (Marketing); Master of Divinity; Master of Theology and Doctorate in Ministry. She holds teaching credentials with the California Community College District and is a Licensed Evangelist with the Church of God In Christ. She was sent as a missionary to Trinidad and Tobago in January 1981 and is the Co-Founder of Greater Malabar Christian Centre where she heads the Pastoral Division and serves as the organization's Chief Operating Officer.

Dr. Terrie Griffith has worked in the fields of Education and Human Resource Management for many years prior to entering full-time ministry. She has held the following positions: Professor, Caribbean College of the Bible International, Adjunct Professor Vision International University, Human Resource Consultant, National Flour Mills, Human Resource Officer, School Nutrition Company Ltd., Registrar and Instructor of Business Management, Trinidad and Tobago Hotel School. She functions as an International Trainer and Public Speaker and has shared her expertise in over 40 nations around the world. She is also a Chaplin in the Maximum Security Prison in Trinidad.

She has been married for 44 years to Bishop Dr. H. Joseph Griffith and is the proud mother of two adult daughters and six grandchildren.

Phillippa Mc Conney

Social Capital Pastor:


Pastor Phillippa Mc Conney joined the Ministry in 1992 along with her husband, Pastor Nathaniel Mc Conney and their four children. She is a retired primary school principal and has served as Deaconess, Licensed Minister, Sunday School Teacher, Human Resource Divisional Director, and Women’s Director. Apart from holding the position of Pastor- Social Capital, she serves as District Missionary of the Headquarters District in the Trinidad and Tobago Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. Pastor Phillippa holds a Teaching Diploma from the Port of Spain Teacher's College and a Certificate in School Administration from the University of the West Indies, Continuing Studies Department.

Pastor Nathaniel McConney

Care Pastor


Pastor Nathaniel McConney who joined GMCC with his family in 1992, brought into the local assembly tremendous discipline and leadership potential from his twenty-five-year career as a soldier in the Trinidad and Tobago Army from which he retired at the rank of Sergeant. Also, he served a short stint as the acting Pastor of the Wesleyan Holiness Church in Guiaco, Sangre Grande.

Upon entering GMCC, he completed several courses in ministry, pastoral leadership, and counselling which led to his successful sitting of the Church of God in Christ Ordination Board at the Second Southern California Jurisdiction in June 1993. As an ordained elder, he joined the staff of GMCC full time and served as Assistant to the Senior Pastor and was later appointed to the position of Care Pastor. He has been a member of the Board of Directors for several years and has served as its Chairman. Pastor McConney is the Chairman of the Membership and Disciplinary Commission of the Church. Additionally, he serves the Trinidad and Tobago Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ as District Superintendent and Chairman of the Jurisdiction's Ordination Board and Administrative Assistant to the Prelate.

Pastor Annemarie Martin

Missions Pastor


Pastor Annemarie Martin came to faith by accepting Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour at the age of seventeen. She was immediately arrested by the words of Jesus, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost" and committed her life to doing His word. She came to GMCC in 1987 and got very active in the outreach ministry and in the planting of the first outstation work in Fishing Pond. Pastor Martin brought to the ministry excellent experience as a child care professional having worked with such facilities and subsequently operating her own Daycare. She joined the staff in 1990 when the Heritage Childcare Centre was established.

Pastor Martin has had a colorful and diversified tenure at GMCC. She was elected to the very first Board of Directors in 1988. While fulfilling her responsibilities on staff in the newly established Heritage Childcare Centre and in the Blest Foods Grocery Store, she volunteered as an Usher, Choir member, Sunday School Teacher and School Feeding Director. She was later called to the preaching ministry and was licensed, then ordained as an Elder in Caribbean Christian Ministries, Incorporated of California, USA. Subsequently, she served as Youth Director, Sunday School Superintendent, and Missions and Evangelism Divisional Director. Pastor Annemarie was appointed to the position of Missions Pastor in 2009. She holds credentials as an Evangelist Missionary with the Church of God in Christ and has traveled doing missionary work and attending developmental conferences in the US Virgin Islands, Grenada, Guyana and the USA. She is married to Elder Anthony Martin.
